TEDxEroilorSalon – Borders vs. Barriers

What is the purpose of borders in today’s Europe? Are they mechanisms which protect a social, cultural and economic space? If they really do fulfill this purpose, to what extent are the use and definition of borders a reflection of the ideological barriers that we, as a society, put up and constantly renegotiate? During this past year, these questions have become urgent, Romania included, as the collective answer to these questions has a direct influence on the policies put in practice by national and international authorities.

Together with LDHR Cluj (League for the Defense of Human Rights), we are putting up for debate ideas related to immigration and the refugee phenomenon in particular. We will watch several TED Talks on the subject and invite the audience to join the discussion, in a non-judgmental, open setting. We look forward to seeing you there!

Tickets are available here. Make sure to also check our Facebook event for updates.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxEroilor, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxEroilor event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
